Ministry Goals for Youth

  • 1. To provide opportunities for all youth to participate further in the programs and ministries of GUMC
  • 2. To create a welcoming and accepting environment for regular attending and visiting youth
  • 3. To communicate Christ's love and acceptance to youth at all stages in life and spiritual journey
  • 4. To create a physically and emotionally safe environment for youth participation within GUMC programs and ministries
  • 5. To provide spiritual and social guidance to all youth
  • 6. To uphold the teachings of Christ and God's laws as identified in the Bible
  • 7. To encourage all youth to live prayer-centered lives
  • 8. To encourage youth to model their lives after Christ's example
  • 9. To provide youth with a diverse group of mentors
  • 10. To provide youth with opportunities for fellowship with other believers
  • 11. To create an environment where youth feel comfortable and empowered to ask questions, and challenge ideas.
  • 12. To promote positive relationships between youth and adults of GUMC.
  • 13. To provide educational opportunities where youth learn from each other as well as from adult mentors.
  • 14. To encourage youth participation in acts of service and the relief of suffering in GUMC and surrounding communities

Ministry Goals for Leadership Team

  • 1. To provide youth with leaders who demonstrate a respect for all races, beliefs, ages and genders.
  • 2. To provide youth with a leadership team that promotes spiritually healthy and respectful communication, and interpersonal relationships: leader to leader, and leader to youth
  • 3. To provide youth with a team of leaders willing to dedicate time and care.
  • 4. To provide youth with leaders who are committed to following Christ and His teachings through action and word
  • 5. To provide youth with leaders who make them feel physically and emotionally safe and valued
  • 6. To create a team of leaders who model a "servant's heart."
  • 7. To create a team of leaders who engage in prayer and encourage it in youth
  • 8. To create a team of "Out-of-the-box" thinkers and doers
  • 9. To create a team of leaders with diverse talents and interests.
  • 10. To encourage and provide valuable and meaningful opportunities for adult leaders to "lead"
  • 11. To provide assistance and support to individual leaders within their various areas of youth ministry
  • 12. To maintain clear and continual communication within leadership team
  • 13. To make meaningful contact with all youth (gr. 7-12) who attend GUMC
